resistance requires struggle, Surrender granTs surrenity

What aspects of yourself or your life do you hope will be different in the year to come? Do you want more money, more success or more influence in your career? Are you wishing for a deeper level of intimacy and connection in your relationships or a greater amount of vitality in your body? Most of us begin the New Year with newfound clarity about the areas of our lives that we want to improve, and creating these goals is a vital first step toward fulfilling them. But here’s the catch: Resisting our present reality will not bring us any closer to our desired reality. In fact, resistance is the glue that keeps us stuck in the very circumstances we most want to change.

By now you’ve probably all heard the statement, “What you resist persists.” What this means is that whatever you’re resisting you are bound to attract more of. If you’ve ever had the experience of not being able to get to sleep, you know that resisting the fact that you can’t sleep only worsens the problem. The same is true with any condition in our lives. Anything we want to change, anything we’re afraid of, anything we refuse to accept causes internal resistance and sets us up for more pain and struggle. What we can’t be with won’t let us be. When we struggling against our present circumstances we remain blind to solutions that may be right in front of us because we are so focused on the problem. When we are in resistance all our precious energy is being used to avoid what we don’t want rather than to create what we do want. The solution is simple: Surrender to your life exactly as it is. When we surrender our resistance and accept everything in our lives exactly the way it is – our bodies, our relationships, our finances, our careers – something shifts. Because we are no longer fighting to fix, change or alter our circumstances, we have access to new perspectives and resources. When we surrender we say, “This is what life is dealing me right now, and even though I’d like it to be different, I will allow it to be as it is.” Surrender requires us to give up our attachment to how we think our lives should look. It means we have to give up our need to control the situation and resign as General Manager of the Universe. And ironically, as soon as we no longer need things to be different, they begin to show up differently. Surrendering our resistance is like opening a door to another level of consciousness where serenity and ease reside.
Allow yourself to see everything in you life that you’ve been resisting. What about your current state of affairs have you been judging, making wrong or trying to change? Give yourself permission to allow all that to be there, without any resistance. Rather than avoiding, suppressing or resisting the aspects of yourself or your life that you don’t like, go into them and feel them and notice what happens as you do. Surrender is a sacred practice that challenges us to dissolve our judgments and make peace with all that we have made wrong. If you feel any resistance to surrendering your resistance, just remember this: Resistance equals struggle, and surrender equals serenity. You have the power to choose between the two.

Action you can take Now!
1 . Notice the parts of yourself or your life that you are not accepting. Hint: look for the areas where you feel struggle, effort, frustration and discontent.

2. Write down the judgments that hold your resistance in place. What do you believe should be different in this area of your life?

3. Challenge yourself to find one gift of the circumstance or situation you have been resisting. Imagine that if you received the wisdom hidden within that circumstance it would open the door to acceptance.

4. Identify an action that you can take that would support you in embracing this part of your life or this part of yourself, exactly as it is.

5. The most powerful process I use is to say “I surrender to ___________
(whatever you perceive as a challenge)” continue to state this until you feel it wash over you and then invoke the I AM presence by stating “through the great I AM that I AM that is inside of me I know accept
______________. (The desired outcome) this will shift you immediately..
